Hollywood Boylesque Cabaret FACEBOOK PAGE
Created & produced by host Jasten King in 2011, HEADPHONE is
Hollywood’s first regular showing all-boy entertainment cabaret show.
Incorporating a rotating line-up of original dancers, musicians,
comedy, art, video, monologues & more, this monthly show began at the
Moving Arts theater in Silverlake, and now travels around town to
various locations & events.
After touring the world with his band Killradio (Columbia Records) for
the better part of the 2000s, King decided to stay put and focus on
alternative musical theater. His rock ‘n roll murder mystery,
“CHARLIE! The Death of Nancy Fullforce” was nominated for “Best
Musical” at the 2011 Hollywood Fringe Festival and is currently in
pre-production for a feature film. What has most directly led King to
comedy was two years of hosting HEADPHONE, his “butchy boylesque
cabaret of music performances, intimate dance numbers and inappropriate
short films” at Akbar in Silverlake.
“I started HEADPHONE as a way to try out some improv and audience
interaction. I can’t act to save my life, so just went out there with
very little planned led to a constant inappropriate honesty, nervously
falling out of my mouth, as well as interacting with the audience on
the spot. I completely enjoyed it, so with this new show I want to take
that to the next level, but this time wearing pants… maybe.”
